About This little dude stood and stared at these waves for about 15 minutes, before turning around and walking back up on the beach, with his head down. It made me sad. I'll bet next year, same time, he goes in! I'm not sure about the soft focus on him...the focus here is on the wave, and I'm not sure which would have worked better.

Bradley, I feel relieved he walked away from it! Next year, I sure hope he has someone with him who really knows what he is doing! This picture definitely tells a story... Very well captured! (and the focus looks fine to me).

Dear Brad,

very moody beach shot, nice portrait and about story. hope the boy won't be there next year...

color is interesting but a bit too much magenta for my taste. like the dynamics created by the waves.
very good job.
take care,
thilo

Hi Brad,
I like the focus on him. This B&W has the fascination of the silence and the sadness.

What a shame that he turned around and walked back to the beach, Seeing this I would have bet he was waiting for the wave to come closer so that he could go in.
I like this image the way it is. The focus on the wave is great and so does the boy in silhouette.
Beautiful composition and toning.
Fabulous capture

I really like this, I think you got the focus just right. Worked great with the sepia and light as it is,good job of capturing the moment and sentiment of wistful thinking on his part.

That is one spectacular wave. The crisp clarity of the water is superb with the soft focus silhouette of the boy depicting how infinitesimal we really are. Excellent toning btw.

I guess the boys decision is explained best with clarity on the wave.

i agree with guy, the softer focus on the kid was a wise choice in my opinion. should you have focused on him I reckon you would not have gathered much more information, but lost something on the wave - whose fine detail instead adds a lot to this expressive and sweet image. well done!

Very nice picture Brad, the focus is ok. It is better to focus on the waves because the child is dark by the position of the sun. We can see the detail in the wave, very well done!
Best regard

Well done! I love the cool silvery tones, I think you made a great choice on focus. It appears very magical with the bunch of twinkling glitter on the water that surrounds him. Well composed, just an excellent shot~
