About Just returned from my diving holidays. Lanzarote is a tiny little island off the west coast of Africa just besides Morraco. Very popular holiday destination among western europeans.

Its an amazing island for its volcanic landscape. The hole island is black from the past multiple erruptions from 3 major volcanoes. No greens what so ever except palm trees and cactus even though its not a desert.

It belongs to Spain from its colonial past. Lanzarote is one of the 5 small islands of Canary islands.

These camels might look romantic for a photo. But actually they were a sad sight to see. So poorly looked after that they were just skin n bones. I can not understand humans. How can they treat them so badly.

The volcanic landscape is stunning...I feel the camels/tourists add a sense of scale to the landscape...excellent composition. shame abt the treatment given to camels though.

Hi Ken, Very interesting shot. I wonder what you did to it; the vulcanic surface shows the right dark tones, just like I remember it, but the camels (dromedaries) seem to bright; A shame how people treat them. Still, from a distance, they do play an important part in this image, eventhough they seem to be fiddled with. Maybe burning them a bit in Photoshop would do the trick. (or at least subdueing the brightness a bit) Notwithstanding that, it's a very well composed shot. Good job!

Cheers,

Hugo

It's a fine shot. Although it is terrible that the animals were in such bad shape, the photo would have indeed been something else without them. Very striking . . .

Fabulous detail and color hues. As I was watching as this loaded I thought this a great natural abstract. I was a bit dissapointed to see that it was tourists on the camels, and especially after reading your comment on them,I think I wuold prefer this without them in the picture. Non-the-less a very good picture.
