Justin, thank you very much for your comment, that was really constructive - something I do miss at most of the comments and espacially on this side. I agree, this picture doesn?t have a focal point and I didn?t want to have one. The picture was shown at a small café/gallery in Berlin and I noticed, that people really liked it because of that. I do like this, very much, but I don't write a comment without a little constructive criticism - I don't think your intention here was to have a focal point. Not all images need a focal point, but where you have no single subject I think it is necessary.
I look at this and I am drawn into it, but the more I look at it the more confused I get. I can't focus on anything, and that is the sort of thing that is going to make people fall in love with an image and grow to hate it in the same thought.
It is a great shot, and I think it is great that you are not bound to the principles of composition, etc, like so many others are - but those principles are there because they usually work.
I think, thet if you slightly defocussed the image and placed an in-ficus primary subject before it, you would get a very good background.
