hi James - i just shot this photo with the most minimal dof i could use at the time & then focused on the petal that was closest to me. The rest just fell out of focus. The tamron macro lens i'm using, which i just bought recently, seems to be pretty amazing in capturing this effect. I love shots with very minimal dof so i'm so really happy that i'm able to create this type of image with the new camera & lens i have.

It's so great purusing through your portfolio - it's like going on a visual journey through these amazing unknown lands! You do beautiful work & thank you for taking the time to comment on mine. Have fun out there in the world! - all the best, jennifer

Beautiful colors. I really like the softness provided by the shallow DOF. Regards, Claude

you know, ill go over the scanned image with the healing brush first because it divides up the pixels and makes an average of the selected areas. the cloning tool copies and pastes the pixels that you select. so sometimes it doesnt get it right. but you use the tools the same way.
anyhow...great contrast in your portfolio. (subject matter).

Nice blur. It isn?t often I see blurry macro shots, and therefore I think it?s great to see one. Mostly they are sharp and crisp - but who says they have to be.....

Nice colours as well.

wow, daniel - you have amazing eyes!!! it took me awhile to be able to find that line but you're so right, it's there alright. I wonder if it's a little string from a cobweb - i find those on my macro shots quite often, but usually i spot them myself! I love that kind of attention to detail & really appreciate you taking the time to look at my image so thoroughly. Thank you! :O) I haven't figured out the healing brush tool yet & so usually use the cloning tool....do you find the healing brush better???

gorgeous!! delicate indeed. i DO NOT like florals very often, but this is a superb composition, and has great colors. it is fantastically mimimalist, and really almost has an abstract feel.

i'll be damned...daniel is right-there is a little scratch or something there. never would've noticed it on my own though.
at any rate, this is a lovely shot made very special by the composition. great work.
cheers,
todd

super delicate.

the healing brush tool is the miracle of dust+stuff removal in photoshop. you can hardly see it but there is a scratch or white line from the lower left corner to the stem. im the dust nazi so i see more than most probably...its always hard to critique! especially work you really like.
