Rupert, thanks for your comments. This is definately an interesting place, more socially than photographically.

you do go to all the cool desert places - reminds me of when I was a kid - dad loading us into the ford staion wagon, the country squire, and taking us out to the desert to sme place he read about -- like the color and comp . K

Where do u find these things. It looks like it's in the middle of no where? i like the colors, and the relationship between the box and the backround.
Good job.

Yes, I consider it a jewel George. If you look on my portfolio, you'll see more shots from Slab City. I also plan to post a few more.

You have found one of America's treasures. There aren't too many folks who know about this place, and it's probably just as well... too many people would screw it up. The rather bizarre and faded paint schemes go so well with the characters that live out there. I hope you have more images of this place to share. There are the makings of some outstanding images here. Just don't pass on directions to anyone else.

That?s true Jeanette. The U.S. Is the only place to see images like this. What?s especially odd is that people choose to live this way.

Cute city; that "welcome ..." text is really touching! Missing vegetation is replaced by painted - there are many ways to get what you want ... interesting shot Ken!

Its only in America that it?s possible to find this kind of things. I remember when I drived from Colorado to Utah - how much wasen?t there to see..... Great shot Ken.

Jeanette
