I did say I like the softness of the Ilford film for child photo's. I personally worked a lot with Ilford. But I think the film I like most is the Kodak T-Max. Kodak B&W films have a stronger contrast, some real black and whites. You can take a look at the following picture, that one is taken with a Kodak B&W negative. http://www.usefilm.com/image/325951.html I don't know, I like those films more but somehow I always come back to the more gentle and soft Ilford films. The B&W photo's I've uploaded recently where from cheap films from a Dutch, kind of supermarked, they also had that Ilford softness. But I think now, in my poorer student times, price comes above quality. :) Well, take a look and I'll hear from you. Greets, Tim.

Thanks for your comments Tim! I did try messing with the contrast in photoshop, but youre right, it took the softness out, and created some weird hot spots on his face, so i decided it was better off left alone. This was also shot in pretty low lighting, resulting int loss of contrast. I know what you mean about ilford though, can you suggest a better black and white film? Ive tried several, but im still happiest with ilford so far.Let me know if you do have suggestions! corrie

Fun! His expression is just great. I like the ilford films, they create a wonderfull softness in your pictures witch is great when photographing children. These films do have one lack, they don't create white part. A good B&W piccture is said to need aswel black as white. You have some wonderfull blacks in this picture, for instance the eye's, really good. But then again no white. But when I think about it, if you would have white you would have a greater contrast creating a harder picture. You would lose the softness witch makes this picture good. So the rule about B&W pictures doesn't seem to work on this one. HA, I think I'am learning things from your picture :)
Excellent work, you deserve some high ratings. Greets, Tim.
