What is common in all these images is that they were created with a particual conceptual background in mind. Exploris antithesis to reach synthesis, harmony, in a paradoxical way. The style of the photo is just the means to express these theoretical part. Experimental shots seemed the best way for me. Experimental in all aspects. The feeling is transcendental.

journal entry 11.06.04, woke up, went to a business lunch, after a few beers started discussing art, artistic talent and formal art degree?s? evening? went to book store looking for a book that describes the mary vareli style, I couldn?t find one?. late night.. surfing usefilm, I go to Mary?s portfolio still wondering why I like this stuff, I can?t explain it but it?s good and she put a lot of thought into these, so it?s something subconscious or something, I like them, I just can?t explain why. So until I can describe and critique what exactly I find so interesting and artistic about them, I?m just not going to comment on them? or not? here?s one at least

I love it. It?s like a photo from the 20's. Those kind of photos that circulated among gentlemen but still were very innocent. Nice tones and above all a nice blassé pose.

Good subject contrast, but I think that the flash shadow detracts from the mood of the photo. Not sure about your toning but that is just me :-) Good relaxed pose - very stylish.

Great pose and expression. Im not sure about the shadows though.. perhaps a different lightning would have eliminated those. I like the setting though! =) Different toning also.. makes it interesting! =)) Nice to see different works from you my friend!!

This is a very interesting composition - the contrast between the condition of the room and the ladder on the one hand, and Olga's elegance on the other. Excellent.
