Very pretty. Those leaves look huge on the right. Is that a clue that this isn't as big a waterfall as it appears? Awesome capture. T.

Hi Paul, I like the low camera postion in this shot, it creates a very unusual element in the photo. Very effective! I always like what a slow shutter does to the running water, adding a silkish glow over it. Very well captured, and this is another fine example of what rocks are good for!

Cheers,

Hugo

Excellent photo, Paul. The slow shtter speed gives the water a milky look and at the same time exentuates its motion.
Thank you for your friendly comment on my "Alone on the beach".
Best regards,
Rafi

I love the moss and wet autumn leaves clinging to the rocks. The frozen capture of the water is incredible. Like a million tiny rushing lights soaring up the falls.

PS: thanks for your comment on my "yellow Hat"
over the boys look... i don't like it to make scenes, to let somebody look that way or the other way... And it's also to tell him that in Tibetan :P

Many greetings Abel!

Hi there, now that's not fair! I ask you to put in a picture with flowing water and you get more views than i did :) Just joking. Nice water shot here and the leaves just make it. Hope you didn't damage the camera. Thanks for your recent comments and have a nice Sunday.
Best wishes Neil

Fantastic capture Paul, I wonder how long the shutter was open ?

I'm guessing about 10seconds but it may even be longer ?

I really love these and have only recently started to try and experiment :-)

Best wishes,
Steve

Hi Paul,

nice entry to the blurry image section. you managed to capture the dynamics of the water very well here. gets the look of liquid gas.

nice one.
take care,

Paul's Photos Paul's Photos   {K:35235} 11/6/2004
Dave, thanks for the comments. Actually, these types of images are not that hard to accomplish. But, you do need a camera which has manual settings..sometimes you can get away with using a program setting. The only other things you need is a tripod (or a place to firmly set your camera) and of course the most important item is a scene to capture :)

Just experiment with different manual settings for keeping the lens open (shutter speed) and you will be surprised with the results. The trick is not to underexpose which will not give you the flowing or motion look that your after and not to overexpose which can make the water look like a white blob.

Have fun trying...

I've heard about shots like this but never seen it done properly. Must have been hard technically, but definitely worth it.

I've always wanted to take at least ONE shot with the water movement all smoothed away into a milky solid. I have mixed feelings about the effect, though, as it no longer looks like water! This is excellent of the genre.
