Hi Laurie,
i just finnished this one on canvas. It is 60" x 40" in size.
The cool thing about the photos i have been taking in the last 2 months is that most of the photos have been taken from within 5-10 minutes walk from my home here on the beach. Glad i moved here from the city it is like being in a candy shop image wise.

Excellent shot
The composition is what I'm talking about Tim, low level, much depth in the foreground becoming one with the entire image. It's like it leads you to the background that is awesome in itself. Soft but warm colors ahhhhhh perfect.
Very well done in every aspect....worth going out for.

One more thought John,
I find that I learn from the "BAD" images more then the good ones, so to have a lot of junk just means that if I look closely at my junk I can see where I went wrong and hopefully won't repeat that type of effort so often. I think that my percentage of good images has improved since digital. Also I find it takes at least 50 photos to really "SEE". It's like going to a practice just before the game. By the time I am at the 300 shots stage I lose my focus. so I don't go over that to often. If you have good thumbnail software you can sort out the crap very quickly. I use ACDsee. When you have so many photos from a shoot the good ones are pretty obvious and you are less attached to keeping the crap.

Hi John,
I was taking photos with film for years but it was never very satisfying for my needs till digital. As soon as they came out I knew it was for me. I have had 6 of them since my first one (wore them out).
The reason I shoot so many is that I find for myself, I learn much faster by shooting volume then by waiting for hours for the image hunkered down hoping the light will be the way that I think it will be, Or what ever the thought of the moment is. Coming from an artist perspective ( I am a professional painter) I find that in order to get the emotional content that I am questing I need to be just a little bit out of control. I mean it has to have a little spontainiousness in the capture. If I control it to much by technique it becomes to polished and loses the emotional context of the moment and hence is less accessible to the viewer to some extent. Also if I shoot in volume I am less attached to the individual image of the moment, so there is less fear about getting a good one. I think that fear is the most debilitating factor in getting the really good image that sings for you.
I don't know if I explained my process for you well enough but that why I do what I do. Everybody is different go with what works for you.

I rather like your image Tim but I find it hard to believe you shot 275 pics, How many did you delete, I still have the film camera mentality and only shoot what I think will be good, O K, I know its not costing anything but I would rather sit and watch for insects, birds etc than delete a lot of junk at the end of the day. Would appreciate your comments on the subject.
