lovely composition!! I just wonder how it would look like if the focus was reversed! i mean you bring the far foot prints in focus and drop those near steps out of focus, as the viewr's eye moves from the out-of-focus point to the sharper point.
well done, Lukasz :) ned

Excellent perspective Lukasz, The lighting and shadows play a very important role in your image. Good texture of the sand, as if I feel it under my bare feet. Well done Lukasz, regards, Khaled.

Hi Lukasz,
a bit weak in the details, but I like the great depth composing here. the eyes of the viewer are led to the back.

Dear Hugo,
Thanks for your comment and support.
Answering your question: As you pointed ?placing it in front does create a stronger feeling of depth? ? this was the first reason why I Used such a focal point. Doing that I wanted to show the uncertainty of the path the viewer can pace. Usually in our life the first step (steps) are quite important because it (they) opens a new chapter of our life. I think that this focal point emphasizes this.
Secondly, when I took this picture I had the title ?Quo Vadis?? in my mind ? this also complies with the first reason.
Once again, thanks for feedback, I find your comments very helpful.
Take care Lukasz

Hi Lukasz, I like the tension created by the interaction between title and supporting image. The title could be very well used within this photo, given a decent graphic design.
What I'm curious about is why you placed the focus point on the first footstep, using the DOF fade away towards the background, and not somewhere in the middle, using the same DOF to fade out the steps in front as well.
In using a focus point somewhere along the line, I think more attention is drawn towards the the center if the image, which might balance it a bit more. I think it would fit with the idea of "Quo vadis"...
On the other hand, placing it in front does create a stronger feeling of depth, wich is also nice.
Difficult choice, and I'm not arguing you made the wrong one, I'm just curious about why you made it like you did and how you made that choice. It's something I always think about, but rarely ever feel satisfied about.
Cheers,
Hugo
