great subject Jim, but it is let down by being unsharp, because the texture is not super sharp attention is drawn away to the objects in the background that could be darkened a little, and the strong shape in the foreground that is cut off also draws the eye
be sure to focus on what you think is the most important part of the image, not what the camera decides
looking at your b&w images it seems to me they may be a little too high in contrast, how do you determine exposure and how do you process your films
