About Taken durring Braves game last year. A little too dark but could not seem to bring it up in PS without killing the entire picture. If anyone knows how I could improve this in PS please tell me. Thanks

Good shot, though, Stephen, really captures the intentness of the player and coach!

Hey, no problem...you say 300 dpi on your scan, have you tried setting your scanner at 600 dpi and then bringing the image down to 300 dpi in PS? Also, great book for all cameras is "Magic Lantern Guides". Any book store should cary it or have access to it. Be sure to get the one that is specific to the EOS Elan 7/7E. By the way, the "Metering Mode Button" should be located on the back film cover. There are 3 buttons, it should be the one in the middle. A solid dot with an outlining cirlce. There are 3 modes. Regular-'Evaluative Metering', Background or 13.5% of the viewfinder - 'Partial Metering', and Specific or 3.8% of the viewfinder - 'Spot Metering'. I am working on this task myself ~ Very frustrating, but I am pretty head strong. Good Luck, hope it helps.

Thanks Carla for the input. The actual photo looks a lot better so I am starting to think that I may be losing a little in the scan at 300 dpi. I will look at the camera and see if I can figure out those settings. Thanks a ton for the much needed input.

Hi Stephen, it looks like this was just a difficult shot due to the brightness of daylight, white uniforms, and then darker skin tones. On the Elan 7E, you can use the metering mode button (on the back of the camera) to expose for the brighter background and the darker forefround. As for PS, now that the pic has already been taken, I would work on the levels or try a screen lighten. You may need to burn the grass & dirt back in after you have lightened the photo. I am sure there are other way sin PS to do this, and hopefully someone else will provide you with their way. You also may need to sharpen the photo when you are done, as it can get pretty pixelated. Good Luck on the PS work. Great capture.
