The camera is moving (horizontally), but so are the waterdrops (falling down). It starts abruptly because further up the stream of water was in the shade.

Hi Ian - thanks for sharing your enthusiasm for Prying Open. Good excentricity factor and a classic setup for those decisive moment shots. I don't think it is too cool for us to discuss somebody else's pictures in their space (and P.O. does not seem to want to talk to much in the first place). Email me if you wish (address on my profile page).

oh yes and this is exactly trhe kind of thing I need for my next shot at the incidental beauty thanks!
Beautiful thing.
Beautiful the things generated by analogue real world pre postproduction techniques
Love that organic backdrop.

Wonderful abstract, Stephan - the rectangular shape of the water, and it's placement in the frame are outstanding, as if appearing from nowhere! I'm at a bit of a loss trying to picture this scene 'naturally', but then again, I don't have to understand it to appreciate it. Well done!

I suppose one could crop it on top, but I liked this magical appearance of the drops. It happens because I am shooting into an cliff overhang and the upper part of the stream is in shadow. It is a little surprising that it is so invisible but no editing (besides cropping and levels) was done here. Had I thought about it at the time I would have liked to cast a shadow near the bottom of the stream so as to have it dissapear as it emerges on top...

I'm not sure how I feel about the top of this one... it is a bit awkward to me having the water starting out of nowhere and running out of frame. Although I know that you framed it this way on purpose, as all of your shots have a lot of thought behind them, I wonder what the significance is to the water started where it does.

Your creativity is a delight. I love the pronounced line of sparkle against the cool dark muted tones. Lovely. T.
