This image is taken from a series I did revisiting the coastal community of Te Puru where I spent my summers growing up as a child.
My intention for this series was not to document Te Puru as it is now but to somehow photograph my memories and recollections of Te Puru as a child. I wanted the images to appear hazy and clouded a kind of representation of memory. I experimented with pinhole cameras, toy camera's but could never quite achieve the feel that I was after. I eventually decide to photograph with my standard camera but shot the image with the lens wrapped in a plastic bag to my surprise it gave me the type of image I was striving to attain.
This particular image shows a water hole where we would spend long summer days swimming
Choice filtering Mark. Nice moments of detail. I'd be interested to see a detail (I couldn't possibly analyse it, but I'd be interested in seeing it. Looking forward to this if it's a series.
