I've taken off my gardener's gloves and gone back to the street. (Truth is, Marilyn kicked me out - I was getting under her feet :-). Next 2 days are a public hioliday - one day being Moon Festival - one of the big Chinese celebrations, so expect a lot of "Streetman" pics. during the next week. This lady is preparing one of the smallest street temples for the celebration which start tomorrow. The upright "pipes" are huge decorated incense sticks that will burn for the next 1 1/2 - 2 days.
Thanks for the suggestions, Artie. This temple really gave me some headaches. Firstly, it is so small and narrow wedged between a building and a flight of steps. Then this area at the back had 2 open sides (with daylight), one tungsten bulb (in camera) and 1 major fluorescent tube overhead. And, yes, I did want some face contact, but they were reluctant to let me shoot anyway and did their stuff purposefully back-on to me. I'm hoping that if I keep on visiting they will get used to me, but it's a while yet before the next Chinese celebration.

I was asked to take some pics at work for a young man that was leaving us to move back home. I used 100 Astia Slide:) The lighting was mostly flourescent and I used a FW (kinda purple in color)filter. Wonder what you or Artie think will happen. I haven't got them back yet. Just curious if either of you have any idea what kind of tint I will get. So it is ok to use a warming filter or such for different kind of lighting? See this is where I think photography is magical in that you don't always capture what you see. Such as the "couch and coffee table" thing Artie was talking about on Live last nite. Anyway I love the warm side of this as well. I think the two different kinds of lighting would definitley be something to look into when taking a picture. (Now that is:)
wish there was some contact with this person other than her/his back so squared on...also prefer the tungsten (bulb is hot)look on the left compared to the daylight look on the right of the frame...a warming filter would have done that, yup it would make the left even warmer but it would still work...because of the subject I dont like the mixed lighting...also crop the bottom to the shelf, dont need the brick work beneath it...good frame however and I'm just doing my wish list on you...
Ray, have a good time. I want to see some very fine pics from the street. Wish I were there with you! I truly loved my trip to Thailand, and especially Chinatown.
