About I drove to Ullswater Lake in The English Lake District, about an hour before dawn, in the hope of capturing a moody sunrise on the beautiful lake. Unfortunately, after no more than a few seconds, the orange/pink sun was subsumed by thick grey cloud! I turned my attention to details and found these roots at the edge of the lake. A long exposure and no white balance compensation in the dim grey light produced the blue cast I was looking for. The 50 second exposure has smoothed the lapping water to produce this frosted glass look.

This is a new look (to me) from long-exposure photos of water. Interesting for that reason but also very harmonious and beautiful.

I think you will be able to capture a lot of sunrise or sunsets but this Blue Roots, imho, are much more interesting.

Very nice capture. Interesting atmosphere.
Thanks,
Daniel.

Yes I think it is a very nice fotograph. Interesting color cast with the choice of WB which I think creates impact. I also quite enjoy the long exposure to soften up the water. Maybe the only spot to improve is the bottom right hand corner --- there seems to be something just creeping into your frame. a tiny distraction, nothing else.

very nice

This is intensely surreal, and a tribute to your eye and your experienced technique. YESSSS!
