About The biggest darn thing in the UK!

Well it's Emley Moor Mast, standing 1084 feet tall and has no ropes keeping it up - so it is the tallest one of it's type in the UK. Winter Hill in Lancashire is bigger, but needs holding up.... bit like me when i leave the pub.

Taken with my super 15mm Sigma (everyone should get one tomorrow - go on treat yourselves), and a Cokin 3 sop ND grad to get the sky nice and dark.

Been doing a few of these dark and moody ones, my good friend Steve Bowden's "under expose everything" philosophy has rubbed off on me!!

Not a great deal done in Photoshop this time - dodged the field to get detail and a bit of USM to make the grass shine. That's about it.

great shot. the colors are nice but what i like are the disagreeing angles. the verticle of the tower, the sloping of the field, the vanishing of the stone wall in one direction and then the apparent movement of the clouds in another.

Cheers Steve, I don't think the shot tell you quite how cold it was! The wind chill made Tadcaster look like Jamaica!

Managed to get the light foreground with an ND grad filter and a little help from a street lamp!

Looking VERY bleak out there today. Was going out but having second thoughts. May be a photoshop day instead.

Should be free next weekend - can't remember anything on anyway - so have to think of somewhere nice to get a few shots.

Cheers

Fabulous capture Ade, this thing is really huge !! I love the way the foreground is nicely illuminated also.

Finished my nights but short break and back on Monday. I will be free Thurs - Sat next week.

Best wishes,
Steve

Terrific composition Ade. When I opened it up I just had the tower and horizon and I thought "What's this?". Then I scrolled down and the dry stone wall foreground appeared and KAPOW!!!! Totally stunned. Grat shot.
