Hi Alain.
Thanks for your comment. I can't add you as a friend yet as I'm up to my limit of three. If I become a donor I'll add you then.

Thanks Peter. I agree that a higher viewpoint would have been alright but I wanted most of the trunk against the sky. Also I thought the tree in the background would be a reminder of what was. A wee bit more, if you look at my photo's, I tend to break the rule of thirds and centralise the key subject. I want the viewer to be led out. Usually photo's (including mine) lead the viewer into the center or key point. If you look at my photo of Smailhom Tower, the tower is bang in the middle. I've had a few comments how it should be more to the left and lower a bit. Well I'm sure the result would be pleasing but also more like a postcard. I think it is much more sinister looking straight at the tower then the dark landscape around. In a way I've tried the same with the Pines but maybe not as effective (not that I want my photo's to look sinister). I always try to be a little different.
Kind Regards
Barrie

Very strong outcome in b&w .. now composition is not the strongest point .. the object at itself is worth the photo, but you might have fitted it better inside its environment, and therefore a higher viewingpoint would have yielded better (imho).. Peter
