On September 12, 1958 the fundamental stone of the Metropolitan Cathedral of Brasília was thrown, that is an expression of architect Oscar Niemeyer artistic genius. He/she had his/her ready structure in the year of 1960, where only the circular area of 70m of diameter of the which you/they rise 16 concrete columns appeared (pillars of parabolic secção), that you/they weigh 90 tons. To the May 31, 1970 the Cathedral was inaugurated in fact, already in this date with the transparent external glasses. In the access square to the Temple, they are four sculptures in bronze with three meters of height, representing the Evangelist; the sculptures were accomplished with sculptor Dante Croce"s aid, in 1968.
