Very dramatic shot, Alison! I like the deep shadows and silhouettes, and the 'sunburst' with the rainbow effect! As for damaging the camera's CCD (where the image is recorded), I think it's only likely to be an issue if for some reason you took a really long exposure directly into the sun - although I can't think of a reason why anyone would do this intentionally!

Wow. I think this is a very difficult thing to do and did this ever turn out great! I love the colors around the flare. It would be hard to get more dramatic than this. Wonderful.

Very dramatic scene. I recently read that aiming a camera at the sun can cause damage to the internal parts of the camera, how do you protect your camera from damage?
