About Inside an old 1800's torn apart buiding, we found this old dusty piano and many other things. Naturally lit from a skylight above. Long time exposure with small aperture, to add grain and expose enough, but still keep the Depth of Field as I wanted.

Alex, thanks for the comments. Much appreciated. I'll keep my eye out for future works of yours. Soon I'll begin scanning negatives and putting on more recent works of mine, in which I feel I genearlly have achieved more. Thanks again, Curtis

This is a solid work. Use of grain is justified here and as in your other photos high contrast works well here. Suggestion: I'd crop the right side by 1/4 inch.

I like the content very much. I like the way your apparent low angle leads to the subject.
I appreciate the character of these places of abandonment.

Curtis,
Your insightful comment on Tom Ross's photo of me drew me to your portfolio. I especially like this image. For a second, I thought it was shot in an old church that I photographed a while ago. It's titled "God's House" in my portfolio. There are two old pianos in the church, looks very similar. I read your bio. Sounds like you have an exciting and meaningful future ahead of you. I wish you the best, I hope you make a difference in this world.

Calin, thank you very much for the comment, I appreciate responses to work. Normally I would consider the middle section to be overexposed and unacceptable, but in some situations I have tried to experiment with exposure and move away from what is considered correct exposure. In this case I wanted to present a stark contrast and try to create a different mood or emotional state than a normal contrast and exposure would have created. I may have failed in my attempt, but this piece is part of an ongoing experiment I am having with exposure and contrast and using them in different ways to produce certain emotional or conceptual feelings. Thank you very much for the comment again, Curtis.

I like the way you framed the subject and the grains, but imo you overexposed the middle area (maybe on paper looks better).

regards, calin
