About it`s a strange mood cause we want it so much...sometime we can have it but we are not sure of this, sometime we know we have it but we are afraid of losing it too fast...and sometime we pretend to be happy...my sister was happy cause talked a lot about us and played with the dig. camera in order to take few photos like this one.

Hi Cris, I'm not very qualified to answer all your questions regarding lights and equipment, I think that the way you use light in photography is how a painter will use brushes and paint, you have to experiment and get to know your camera and how light affects the final product. Another important factor is getting to know the software, and most of all, the theory behind digital imaging; once you know the way things work, it doesn't matter which software package you use, the essential thing to remember is that the image from your camera has all the information required to adjust the image to display accurately what you are capturing, if that is what you want. Perhaps this is off-topic and you may want to send me an e-mail to fnunez@colourstudio.org

HI again Francisco, I have Photoshop but now u made me curious about Gimp; anyway about my camera still trying new perspectives with it; but for example with my sis ...we have time only after work for shooting that`s why have to stay at home in my bedroom with the light on and 2 pilot lights ps: don`t laugh :) and also using some boxing for the camera to stay on; Can u tell me at artificial light which is the best way to shot cause I`ve tried few ways and I`m not too satisfied (the best one till now for me were:tungsten and fluorescent; regarding the other settings I used 1 1/3 at Exposure(the light from my room is not good enough) and ISO 50 or 100) ...I add u here the characteristics of my camera:
"3.2-Megapixel CCD for images up to 2048 x 1536 pixels.
33mm (equivalent) F3.6 optical lens, 5.1x digital zoom
1.5-inch TFT color LCD, approx. 67,000 pixels
5-point AiAF system with single-point center focus and focus lock
Low-light focus assist illuminator
Exposure modes: Auto/ manual/ stitch assist/ movie
Motion video w/audio, 640x480 up to 30 secs, 320x240 up to 3 mins
White balance options: Auto, daylight, cloudy, tungsten, fluorescent, fluorescent H
Shutter speeds from 1 second to 1/2000 second
Evaluative metering linked to the focus point
ISO settings: 50, 100, 200, 400 and Auto (50-150)
Photo Effects: Vivid, Neutral, Low Sharpening, Sepia, B&W
Built-in flash with Auto, Red-eye reduction auto, Forced on, Red-eye on, forced off and slow-synchro
2x-10x enlarged playback function with scrolling
Direct Print to CP-100 and BJ Photo Direct printers
CompactFlash Type I removable storage
USB driverless downloads
Powered by two AA type batteries
Small (4.3 x 2.3 x 1.4 in.) and lightweight (6.2 oz)"
Please take few minutes to answer me!

Thx again F.!

Sincerely,

CRis

I'm glad you liked it; the camera is important as it is software. Remember to set the White Balance when you are shooting, most cameras will allow you to do it. You don't need commercial software to adjust the colour levels, for instance, I use Linux as my OS and there is no Photoshop for Linux. My imaging software is the Gimp which, in most respects, is as capable as Photoshop. The Gimp has versions for PC and Mac if you don't own Photoshop, and it's free.

Thanks a lot Francisco!U did a good job with the photo; regarding the background, it is white I put something white there and then I used caucasian blur and also light.I think I was in a hurry when I posted the photos with Maria...first had to make them to look better; I`m a little bit sad cause my camera don`t let me to do more with it; I have a canon Power Shot A300; it`s also my mistake I didn`t buy a tripod...I`m still waiting the opportunity to buy a Canon A95 cause I think is better...and maybe in the future CAnon EOS 300 D or maybe 20D :))who knows...maybe!!!
And please be free with ur comments as I said to all: critiques are very, very precious for me.

Wish you a great weekend!

Hi Cris, sorry you didn't get many comments to your picture. I have looked at it for a couple days, trying to think what is happening, then I thought that it's the sunglasses, they are too prominent and cover Maria's eyes, which are her point of interest. Then I thought that the colour was off a bit, not knowing what was the colour of the background, I had to make a guess and apply some colour correction and I removed the reflections on her glasses. What do you think? I apologise if doing some tweaking to your posting offends you in any way. Keep the good work.

Cheers!

Francisco
