amazing fire series.. capturing this event. I was very impressed.

I hope you were able to pass on these photos to the fireman to remind them the amazing effort.

sad to have the incident but wonderful to capture.

Greetings David
Thank you for your interest in the shot,
This was a single exposure shot, the sun was out brightly and the day was early morning and cold, the brightness of the fire and Heavy black rolling smoke against the white snow plays havoc on a light meter, I used the auto feature on the light meter. The fireman where in direct sun as you can tell by their shadows, however that fireball caused by the collapse of the roof and the rolling smoke above them come into play and filters the sunlight. I will post a photo taken just a few second before the collapse and you can see the glow of the fire on the snow in the distance, but where the fireman are its much darker, I believed caused by the black rolling smoke blocking out the natural sunlight. Best Regards, Sandra

Amazing patterns and colours in the fire, and really nice composition. I'm finding it hard to tell if this is only one exposure or not, the lighting seems odd to me, though I don't know how the fire would affect it. Could you tell us more about how you took the picture? Like all the others in the series this is a stunning photo.
Regards, David

Sandra I have just been looking through your 'Fireman' shots, I am assuming you have a connection to the 'Fire Service' to be allowed so close. They are all excellent shots, Thankfully a lot of them are 'training' rather than real fires

Bravo, firefighters go in when others go out, that's the definition of courage. Great capture.
