About is like this
I sometimes feel I fall down in being "womanly". I hate to sew, I am a lousy knitter and I abhor shopping. So I feel sometimes not immensely feminine- oh and my job is a pretty grisly one by some peoples yardstick.
I have one very womanly talent - in addition to multi-tasking which is certainly linked to the XX chromosomes. I can BAKE. And evert time I make a cake - i always think of my mother - god rest her soul!
This is coffee cake made for my husband last week to celebrate his birthday.

Really like this- it grabbed me immediately! Can't say I go for feminine tasks either! But this makes cooking far more attractive!

Now here's a guy that appreciates the things that you and Margaret can do cos without yus he'd have to make do with bought ones. Can I have a bit of that in my lunchbox tomorrow pleeeeease?

Now wait a min. I like to bake also, Check my postings. What does that say about my chromosomes? Does it count that I learned from my mom,(mum to you and Margaret) Del.

What makes a woman? What makes a Mum? Is it the traditional suspect? Or is it the heart? the mind? The hope? What makes a traditional mum? It is the love and care and thought... It is the being rather than the feeling. Cake... yep. Cake is good. Yer Mum is smiling. Yer Mum is smiling....
Just a passing comment. Take from it what ye may...

She and my mum are probably swopping recipes and tutting over what we are up to down here!
My mum was very proud of her baking and home cooking and she used to joke that we were going to have "bought cake". This was something she would never ever do.
Now me being a working mother of three I do sometimes indeed buy cake and I wonder what mums take is on this!

That looks so so good. I do the same - when my mother was alive, I could never ever make a decent scone, since she died, i can make scones, and I thank her for that. I was the 'cake maker - and she was the scone pastry maker, I wonder if she is up there making cakes now.
