Sure wish we could edit our comments like we used to be able to do. I'd quickly remove my previous comment and say I am quite sure now that C.J. is right in calling this a Turkey Vulture. We have them here too (southeastern Ontario) and often see them hanging out at the dump. One thing I wouldn't change about my previous comment is how much I admire it. Lucky or not, this is a great photo. Just wondering if Paul was wearing a hat at the time?

Beautiful detail and nice framing. Have you found out what kind of bird this is yet?

I am hoping thar someone can tell me what kind of bird this is. There are alot of them flying around here in N.W. ARKANSAS, but this one doesnt look like most of the regular vulture's I see.He was circling our house and I took alot of pictures then he swooped down while I was following with camera. just got lucky.

Looks like an American Bald Eagle to me. And what a great shot it is. Was this shot mid to late afternoon?

Paul, I really envy you on this one. You have very good feather detail, and bird detail. What kind of bird is it? I have tried for so long to get a decent bird of any kind, flying or not! I can never get a good focus, even with an autofocus. I think I have finally given up. My 400 mm is a little slow on the autofocus, and widest aperture is 5.6. You did a good job here. Be proud. Have noticed the Blue heron is back here. I can't even get a bird that size! Keep up the good work!
