Joe Thanks for the reply. I would like to come over and take some photos. When you say Martinvill I take it you mean St. Matinville? On the map I don't see a lake Martin. I"am new to this site so I'am not sure if it,s ok to give you my personal e-mail jkelly256@mchsi.com

Jim,
There are hundreds at the lake this time of year, they are mating, setting up nests and having chicks. There are large crowds of $eriou$ photographers capturing all of this, so if you were coming over, I would plan it for a weekday.

Joe Nice shot of the spoonbill my favorite bird. Checked out the rest of your photo's they were all great. The spoonbill is probably pretty rare on lake martin? Do you see one every time you go to the lake? I get over your way once in awhile from the pan handle of Fl. Jim

Nice shot, Joe, I like the way the light is coming through his wings. Dave.

Taks for the great comment Nico,
This is a Roseate spoonbill. The roseate spoonbill can be found on the coasts of Texas, Louisiana and southern Florida. It is also found in the tropics and in Central and South America. I found this one at Lake Martin, in Martinville LA.

the lighting highlights the wings perfectly, and the bird's placement in the photo (just taking up the one corner) makes the shot more interesting.

Very nice. You balanced it well with the blue space, in order to give it flying room. That handsome bird looks prehistoric.
