hi Omar - hmmm...that sounds very romantic but the truth is it was shot in my basement cold room with a husband & kids watching tv upstairs!!! maybe i like your version better! :O)

Mysterious and moving portrait. Feels like a princess trapped in a tower waiting for a knight to liberate her..

It is my suspicion my dear that there was more than luck involved.

hi carsten - thanks for your comments. The only work i did in ps was to desaturate the yellow tones somewhat as it was shot under one tungsten light with no other natural light at all & i think i may have lightened the midtones a little as well. The shadows are just are as they are. I shot it in our old basement cool room so it was a pretty 'rough' place for a photo shoot!

hi corrie - the original was actually even a little yellow-er. I shot it under one tunsten light in our old basement cool room so there was no other light other than that. So i ended up desaturating the yellow slightly in ps.

ha, ha - thanks, Owen! that's about one of the finest compliments i've ever received. :O) Interestingly enough, this was one of the very first self-portraits i shot, over 6 years ago, in our old basement 'cool room'. A dark, dreary place with just me & a tungsten light bulb. Ahh, beginners luck!

Jennifer:
Excuse the language but I flat assed love this image. I agree that it is one of the strongest self portraits I have seen in a long time. This type of image is difficult to do and you nailed it. You have a good model to work with.

Excellent portrait ! Good idea the slant, very beautiful colors and tones - and a beautiful model :-) The shadows look a bit stressed, did you dodge with PS there ?

The yellow in this is really neat. Did it just turn out this way or did you do it in ps?
