A very personal, intimate image in spite of the block the cup makes to the rest of the face. I find it intriguing and creative for a portrait and it focuses attention to the eyes and details. Dramatic dark and light contrasts and very strong composition! I love it.

apart from the great details (like the reflection on the cup), the rich tones and the clever use of light to create a strong shadowplay, this portrait is ingeniously composed dear Jeanette... love how the curve of the head follows the curves of the cup and the brave framing cuts the upper part of it just like the upper part of the glass... along with the "white space" of the cap itself leads the eyes of the viewer straight into his eyes... maybe the cup is at the front of the pic but still the main theme remains strong behind it... very very clever indeed!!!!! a harmony of shapes.... original and "refreshing" work from you once again.... congrats... emy :)

hi jeanette,
I really like the hiding idea here - even if it's a small coffe cup ;-) the toning is very suitable for the composing, and the contrastings forms (cup and head) are a nice add-on as well. the mild grain adds to the mood as well.
All in all a very good composing. You may think about adding a light frame.
