About Cairo; which Egyptians proudly call the ?Mother of All Cities?; is africa?s largest city which spreads along the banks of the River Nile.
Islamic Cairo is a very old area, surrounded by walls dating from the middle-ages, and was once the cultural, religious and intellectual center of the entire Arab world. Monumental buildings, palaces, many famous mosques and madrasas (religious schools), numerous markets and the oldest university in the world (al-Azhar) still stand witness to a glorious past.

I think this one is my favorite so far. I'm kind of partial to street photography anyway, especially those that are converted to B&W. The conversion seems to add a timeless value to it. Excellent job!

Very interesting street shot, Khaled! I always like to see these shots of other parts of the world, and your about, to explain it all. The b/w fits it very well, too.
Dave.

Hi Inji,
Actually I don't know what is the name of the street but as you said, it's near the Azhar Mosque, you know this is the islamic Cairo City and this area is called "el darb al ahmar" near "bab zowaila".
You are perfectly right, this is Ahmed Saeid and his son Ammar infront of the door he uploaded it's image a couple of days ago.
Many thanks dear Inji, my best regards,
Khaled.

Another nice street photograph my friend, well done. What I really like about this shot is that there are many different pics in the one shot...If you could keep the picture as is (so don't crop) but make the people disappear, you would end up with 4 different excellent shots - 1) the old man pondering, 2) the lonely guy walking, 3) the two friends walking and 4) the tourist and his son visiting. Great work my friend as usual.

Wonderful narrow streets lined with so much history and beautiful architechture! I was going to mention the 'tourists' in the photo, but I see now that it was two fellow UF photographers! :)

the timeless energy of the place, the light and the shade, the marvelous faces? Cairo is a photographers dream and we count on you to show us. Your excellent photography is constant Khaled; the care for what you photograph evident in every shot - here another example!

? as a health care provider I have the deepest respect and admiration for what you do and therefore I particularly appreciate your words about ?Twilight?. It?s a delicate thing we photographers do Khaled ? sometimes we transgress into voyeurism; occasionally the lense captures a quintessential essence.
