Nice close-up study - I like the way old posts start to look when they get really weathered like this! I like the background, especially the golden reeds that play so nicely against the gray-green of the wood - even better if they went all the way across the background!

Great composition. I like the verticals of the reeds and the wood fibers contrasted with the circular rings on the end of the stump. Like a visual dance.

Nice image Alison. Great colours and lovely textures and lines. For myself the photo lies within the dead wood and concentric lines & lichens growing on it - I would go closer and crop out the disturbing background & fill the frame with the wood etc. Keep up the good work.
