Gaja,

Remember when using (hard) or direct lighting, it almost always makes the subject unflattering? The light in this case would have been more flattering by diffusing?

I figure your using the on board camera flash, but try setting your camera white balance to tungsten and get a spot light, then diffuse it with an umbrella, or a bed sheet to get the appealing wrap around warmth quality? Dean Collins 101?

My Best,

Jr. Martin

Hi Gord,
thanks very much for your nice comment. I think maybe the gaze is disturbing because there is so much room at the top and it's leading the viewer even lower; after some thought it seems like I should really crop quite a bit from the top, perhaps that would help.

thanks,
Gaja

Bel ritratto ed ottima illuminazione del soggetto, gradevole l'effetto spot sopra la testa. 7+ Bye Ale!

This is nicely lit; especially the backlight on the hair to keep from losing too much detail in the shadows. You look very thoughtful here.

Nice work, seems that it is a self shot, if it is, so delicate and hearty capture.nice tone, head room could be less, but still nice, because in this angle seems some different.

Hi Gaja,
This is a terrific self portrait!! I really like the pose and the lighting is excellent!!
Congrats!!
The only thing that I would change is where you are looking. I'm not sure why, but I find it just slightly distracting where your eyes are looking. Believe me, this is really nitpicking on my part. You have created a wonderful self portrait here.
Happy Easter to you Gaja!!

Gord
