To me, this image speaks of both life and death. The juxtaposition of the raging sea against the lonely, tiny figure, its pitiful set of footprints the only thing linking it to any other reality, acts as a palpable reminder of the size and grandeur of the Universe and our own small roles within it. It reminds us, too, that all paths lead ultimately to the sea: the Womb of the Earth and the nurturer of life as we know it.
This piece works for me both metaphorically and visually. It is an excellent statement and a lovely piece of work.

This is a fine study. Everything works together to create a sombre, reflective mood, the single set of footprints adding to the sense of solitude. Well seen and caught!
