A great and fitting tribute to the fallen of the wars Judi... My own Great Granfather was killed in Gallipoli along with a another more distant relative. He left behind a young newly married wife pregnant with my (now) grandmother so never got to see his daughter. My great grandmother later changed my grandmother's birthday celebrations from her real birthdate to Anzac day in memory of my great grandfather and my grandmother grew up always believing her real birthday was Anzac day. It wasn't until my father found the birth certificates that the truth came out... Needless to say we still celebrate my grandmothers birthday on Anzac day (she was 90 this year)... In 1991 I did a cycle tour of northern europe and rode through the area of the Somme near Lille and cam across some of the war grave sites there (including the Autralian and NZ war graves). Its a very moving experience to see all the white crosses lined up in rows, numbering into the hundreds and thousands at each site and many marked with the words 'Unknown Soldier'. Thank you for sharing this Judi.... It somehow means a lot to me.

Beautiful Judi, a fitting tribute I'm sure. Not familar with what Anzac day is could you explain for us out of towners. I gather this is not a composite and I am quite impressed.

ANZAC Day- world war one 25 April 1915 members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corp were set down on the beaches of Gallipoli in Turkey as an assault on Germany and their allies the Turks, many of them didn't make the return trip to their homes and now lay in graves where they fell. today was the 90th Anniversary of that conflict. Lest we Forget
