I see what you mean now about the vertical format. Maybe not vertical, but a square one with the cup centered more.. or more "breathing" space at the top. Good idea. I like it!

A little artificial intervention here Rebecca? I wonder if it is ?better? like this?! Still hesitant though? sometimes I cant make up my mind about anything ;)

Rebecca Raybon   {K:26654} 5/3/2005
Thank you Carlos for such a lovely comment :) A vertical format wasn't really feasable as I was shooting this on the corner of my dresser. But I see what you mean. I may set this up one day and try it. Have a great day. Rebecca

What an amazing image ? such visual and symbolic delicacy. Clearly feminine? Simplicity? Everything feminine is wondrous and magical but never simple?
I keep looking? very nice indeed. I wonder about the crop? would a bit more vertical space work better? But never mind... Technically excellent and a beautiful image as is.

Thank you Debby. The light was natural light through my bedroom window. I did place a sheet of aluminum foil behind it to reflect a little light also, as a friend had advised me to do.

Rebecca - Seems like this image reminds lots of folks of different things - reminds me of my dear sweet Mother who loved to collect tea cups and other "femininities" {if that's a word} - very nice work setting up this shot - good choice for the dark wooden table - nice reflections - what was your light source? -- Debby

There is great beauty in simple things if one knows how to see it. With this still life, you've certainly proved you not only have the eye to see it but to capture the beauty on camera as well. This is a superb arrangement of items for still life photography. A perfect example of how to do this category of photography right. An inspiration to us all.

Rebecca It has the look and feel of times gone by - elegance. The cup and saucer are so pretty and the arrangment of beads and lace give a very nice soft curving shape to the composition. It not only looks very good against the dark background but the reflections are the perfect finishing touch to this fabulous image. It made me think of a incident a couple of years ago - my drivers door kept getting stuck - climbing over the passenger seat to get in and out was not good [and what a sight LOL] I laughingly said to the young mechanic - something like - 'not at my most elegant'. He didn't smile but said - 'I don't go for elegance' - this beautifully elegant picture made me smile [as well as admire] remembering that incident. [btw I am not elegant anyway LOL]
