I love how the leaf he is standing on has a zoom effect propelling the toad toward the viewer. Great focal point. Invisible fill flash. Stunning results.

Beautiful frog, looks like exercising on the leaf. Should have given a kiss and that frog might turn to beautiful prince.

Thanks Sharam, appreciated. After using the D70 for a while I started to mimick the things I learned with my old Pentax K1000 in order to get vivid colours. I think everything starts with proper exposure. With digital there is some room to play with under-exposure but the medium is unforgiving to over-exposure. My camera is almost constantly on -0.7stops exposure compensation and I often step it down to -f2 or 2.5. The second thing that often ruins a nature /macro shot is glare - If the sun shines, use a polarizer filter - it makes a hugh difference to colour saturation. Thirdly, the use of flash with the macros also help to bring out the colours further. My image enhancement settings is untouched because I always try to reproduce the natural colours. Lastly I use PS mainly for touch-up work and slight adjustments of the levels, brightness, contrast and sharpness. I sometimes do a small amount of saturation enhancement but I dont like it because you easily get colour shifts and often loose definition - especially on finely or faintly detialed reds, greens and yellows.
The golden rule to me is to spend as much time possible while taking the photo in order to spend as little time possible trying to fix things that went wrong.
Hope it helps. Kind regards. Joggie

Great shot.... 7+++
One question though... how did you get such nice saturation? Was it done in PS? I would appreciate some help. I also have a D70. Do you have your own custom settings? or does it have to do with good white balancing? thanks :)
