The fisheye look is not what I associate with a Holga - that said, great edit... :-)

by the power of research! ;)
I was very fascinated when thilo started posting his holga pics, read about it, checked out holga and toy camera project here at usefilm
And played around a lot with the image, soft focus filters, blurring grain levels, and many more
thank you saqib for your comment :)

Hope everything is ok :)

arwa abdullah   {K:34415} 5/6/2005
Again thank you lex!
Yes the main focus point is the signs but I wanted to include the car to make the image not too proportional and central, to give it the illusion of a rule of thirds composition ;)
Thank you for noticing that :)

It works really good for me! The colours are amazing, and the light/dark spots in the picture are really amazing, and give it a mysterious look what i really like a lot! The car gives you something to look at, but i think that i don;t distract you from looking at the streetname board witch i think is the main subject, really great job!!

Greets,
Lex.

Very cool - the car's model and look seems somehow perfect for this. Have a feeling of looking out behind dark, bulging sun glasses - Hansi

You know it is pretty funny that we buy cameras worth so much money... plus lenses just so we can take a photo and make it look like a photo taken by a cheap camera LOL.. maybe we should just have bought the cheap camera :) Love the fisheye effect, nice angle and perspective of the building... good work

Chris Hunter Chris Hunter   {K:25634} 5/6/2005
Works well Arwa...very authentic. But for two hours of work...you could just spend the $18?? LOL

Really, a great use of that classic look, the split in the house works very well.

Chris

Great composition and tones and great use of this extreme wide angle Arwa! I like very much the playing that you did!

David McClenaghan   {K:9481} 5/5/2005
Why pay $50 for a Holga when you can get the same result with a thousand dollars worth of camera and computer :)
Actually I think this image is brilliant.
Love the whole 'holga' effect.
Love streetscapes.
Love the tonal effect.
Better put it in my favourites.
Cheers

This one looks really cool! You created art out of an ordinary shot. By the way how did you know a holga outcome will look like this? I've used Rolleiflex and I can tell you're pretty darn close ;)

Chris Spracklen   {K:32552} 5/5/2005
Superbly done, Arwa, even though I've no idea who 'Holga' is!!! )
Best regards, Chris

Arwa, I think you did a terrific job 'impersonating' the Holga (or 'how to make a picture from a $1,000 camera look like it came from a $10 camera! :)
Actually, the resulting mood in this image is fantastic! Such a sense of mystery - what lurks in those shadowed alleyways? Is there someone waiting in the car, up to no good?... a great spark for the imagination! Maybe just a tiny bit *too* dark, but that could be my monitor?
Excellent!
