Salam khaled!
I?ve tried to capture a silhouette of my cat against the window bt I didn?t like the result because shes so full of hair! With the Siamese it would be perfect! Try photographing it while its stretching ;)
Heres an idea you can try dr. khaled

Hi ya Arwa... me too, I'm in the same mood :0(.
I think it needs a photography trip with some friends to get you in the photography mood once again.
I have a siamese cat called "Dominoe" that wears a similar neck collar like this .. they're so cute creatures...
Excellent lighting of the photo Arwa, well done,
Khaled.

Its pretty tricky turning an image of a seal point into black and whit, the most beautiful thing about them is their big hue blue eyes, and in black and white image that?s gone, plus as you said exposing both the dark and cream hair is difficult but im pleased with this image!
Heres the link to my cts pictures at usefilm

Try working through some of the older projects here on Usefilm... get creative with eggs for the Egg Project, or try taking pics of stuff with Minimal DOF... I've found that they really help when I'm at a loss... opens up my way of thinking.

Nothing wrong with not being focused... it is always good to take small breaks regardless of the endeavor (painting.. writing.. etc) Unless you are being payed to do this and have deadlines to meet, I would just relax and take photos when you feel like it... nothing says you have to take pictures everyday (I definitely don't) I want to keep it as a fun part of my life... not something I "have" to do. So, I guess for me.. I don't worry about losing focus for the short term as long as my passion is still there. Guess it is good to take a short respite and recharge your creative energy :)

You never lose the inspiration Arwa, it is always within each of us - it is just sometimes it needs a little more help in awakening it again :-)

Just keep an open mind and the pictures will come. More likely when you least expect it ... so ALWAYS have the camera with you ;-)

I would have walked right past that building with the reflections yesterday until Ade stopped and made us think. The subject was there and ready, it was just the composition we had to think about.

I'm rambling on lol But I hope I might of helped in some way :-)

Best wishes,
Steve

Thank you so much and again congratulations ;)

Yeah, I have dry spells and I hate it. I've found the best thing (for me) to do is put my camera up for a while. Sometimes it's a couple of days and sometimes a couple of months. I just can't "force" inspiration, it's someting that just happens - but taking a break works wonders for me.

Do you remember the picture I submitted "Country Morning" and asked for feedback on how to improve it? You said you thought it was fine the way it was, but you gave me suggestions anyway because I had asked. I took your advice, left it alone and submitted it to a Photo of the Day contest and it won!!!!! Thanks for your feedback arwa.

I love cats, so it's hard for me be critical of cat pictures. I like the pose you've captured here and you can just see the mischiveousness in her eys :) Have a good day and I hope your inspiration returns soon!

Magnificent capture, Arwa. Lovely moment and very nice BW contrast.
When I lost inspiration, I'll look for masters' photographs...:)

Wonderful light effective used, and compose position of this cat is superb. When you lose inspiration just look around you, tenths of hidden subjects will appear. Saeed

Very good advice given by all the posters. I found it helpful for myself too :)
I think sometimes you just plainly need time off to recuperate. Its a good thing I believe.
Best Regards,
Saqib Zulfiqar

Hello Arwa,
in this case think to a story ...inside or outside you (I suggest to see the last project of Paola Lubrano ;) ).
Try to tell something through the photography. Also a lack of inspiration could be a good subject for an image try to materialize with the light this sense of empty.
Which is the shape, the object or the colour that describe this mood inside you?

...and now enjoy :)

Bye

GG

Oh - I love how you have her face in shadow, with those lovely eyes peering out! The way the light plays over her fur and whiskers is fantastic!
As to inspiration, I wish I had a ready answer for you, Arwa, but I often find myself in that same predicament! You might just try shooting something out of the ordinary for you - landscape photographers can try some portraits, portraitists can shoot abstracts, try purposefully manipulating the camera settings for effect - slow your shutter speed way down to capture movement, overexpose on purpose... you get the idea! But with all that said, I know how hard it can be to motivate yourself when you feel 'blah'! But you will - you're a very good and creative photographer, and that talent can't be kept bottled up for long! :)

Gorgeous cat, lighting and tone...fits the mood too as the cat is searching for inspiration too!

well, I am lost in photography world! I do not post alot these days cuz I do not think I can give or post something different. Try to discover new things and areas, look at other photographers work (here and other sites) and just enjoy it and beleive me you will come up with something new even after a yeat ;-)

I go get into bed apparently... I felt uninspired yesterday and got my camera, tripod, adjusted lighting in the room and started shooting. I loved having total control over the situation. I also had a "lighting" project for another site to do... :) Love the challenges because they give you an alternative idea to help come up with something. :)

Sara M   {K:12411} 5/17/2005
This is a very good question, but with no right or wrong answer.. Personally, I do feel sometimes that I'm dry in mind, and simply can't touch the camera.. and sometimes, I see something, and I regret not having the camera with me.. I think it all depends on the mood you are in, sometimes, happeniess inspires you, sometimes anger..

About the picture, it's very cute.. the post is very interesting.. Looks like the cat is trained to be a professional model.. lol

Laurie Gould   {K:11942} 5/17/2005
First off, your cat is gorgeous! I love the pose and the expression. Looks like a very sweet cat. :)

As far as inspiration, if I find I lose focus I just start taking pictures of everything I can get my hands on. I have to admit that's how I got started with abstracts. I just walked into the kitchen and started snapping.

Michael Hall   {K:1362} 5/17/2005
I'm actually in the same boat, Arwa. I have lost what little focus I had and have a lot of trouble lookingfor things to photograph. Yesterday I was at such a loss, I photographed a pen that was in my pocket. It came out pretty interesting but i had to really stretch my mind to do something with it. I, too, would like to know what inspires people and how do they come up with their ideas.

Michael
