This is our first, but hopefully not last meeting on the pages of "Usefilm" Mr. Fagarazzi. Although you tell about yourself only that you love to take photo of your town Omis, that was enough for me to be intrigued, because my wife, Rachel, and I passed through your town at least twice, once in 1985 and then in 1988. I remember the Crotian coast very well, with its Bora wind and its small and bigger towns. On one occasion we took a boat, like the one in this photo and were shipped by a one-eyed "captain" up a river, he drinking vodka all the way out of a glass made of tree-bark (I tried to find such a glass in all the shops we entered, unsuccessfully.) He told us that the river we were sailing on used to be a hiding place for pirates, because in places it was too shallow for bigger ships to pass and follow in persuit. I don't remeber the name of the river, so I try to believe that it was the Cetina. Please correct me if I am wrong. I looked through your entire portfolio and true to your words, you take photos of your town, anabeling the viewer to see it from almost all possible angles and contexts. Your photos show a great sense for the use of light and for composition and the one I am commenting on is no exclusion. It is cropped in sucgh a way that it keeps the viewer guessing, interested. The color of your boat and of the river is the same as the color of the boat and the river we were taken up in and the dof is excellent. You are, of course, invited to read my bio and pay further visits to my portfolio. In the meantime I thank you for your kind comment on my "Walking on shadows." Best regards, Dr. Rafael (Rafi for future communications) Springmann
