ok got something working again...not sure if it will work again later on?
couple things kind of strange...including image size when I open to work on in Photoshop...(lots of pixels...but small print size?)
anyway I do thank you for your help..and I will be calling Minolta later in the day to see what their ideas are on the subject.
In the end I may just keep doing what I have been...shoot mostly digital with my A2 or Casio...only use Nikon (film) when necessary and then have put on CD so that I can install on my computer along with the digitals...up to now it seems like the results are better (no dust etc)
but I will wait to see if Minolta can get this scanner to work as advertised before I send it back. Once again thanks for you help....

Hmmm... Is the scann er the only device on your USB... It's looks as though 2/3 through the scan something went side ways..

Try this. Run the Dimage Scan dual Launcher. From there
Launch the Ds_Dual 4 utility. The click the preferences button. Set your setting to look like this( see attached )

Also you input res to 3200 and output to 400 see what happens

the utility one was the one I finally got to work right, this afternoon..I had reloaded the program, it work fine for 2 photos...then when I tried to do more it just wouldn't do it right, the auto program never worked right..still doesn't..I have attached a scan to show you what I am getting now...

Okay, well what program are you using? Batch scan, easy scan utility or DS_Dual4 Utility?

I use mostly the DS_Dual4. I start this from the Dimage scan Dual4 Launcer

well a few hours ago I finally got this scanner to give me a decent photo...then I went out for a couple of hours of tennis....now I am back and this thing is just like it was before? don't thin I want to keep reloading the program every time I use it.
Minolta hasn't got back to me so I guess I will call Tech support tomorrow..not sure if this is all worth the trouble...thanks for trying to help.

Joe: The scanner will do a set up when you start the software, ( sometimes ) I think one of the tings it is doing during this time is white ballance. I would try shuitting your pc down, the power cyling the scanner then re boot the pc. Now when you start the software it should do it's set up thing..

Joe which model did you buy?

I would look into the preferences and make sure it is set to auto exposure for both negs and slides. Also maybe re start the scanner so it re whit balances..

let me know

great idea...terrific shot too.

hey Pat...took your advice and bought a scanner.
Same one you mentioned....got it last night and have been going nuts ever since.
all my negatives scan all green...all my slide scan all red....really having a hard time getting either to look like their supposed to look. Awaiting answer from email I send to Minolta last night....any ideas on what I am doing wrong?
I did try the books only suggestion for bad color..resetting by hitting shift/ctrol/I...hasn't helped...thanks for any input you may offer.

Cool paint job on that helmet! My son would love to chase his dad around in it (he hates clowns). Great color captured here Pat!
