About Struggling for a title for this, I went to an online Thesaurus and found that "The Gloaming" is the perios just after sunset - which is pretty much what this is, the sun just touching down on Ringwood reservoir in West Yorks.

I'd been around Saddleworeth again and got a few keepers, took a wrong turn and found myself at Ringwood by accideny really. But once I saw the reflection in the water, I stuck around for about an hour watching the light change.

Taken with the 15mm lens, no filters, just put the sun in the middle and set the exposure to +1 2/3 so I'd not burn the sun at all.

The result is my best ever sunset, and my most sucesful ever shot on ephotozine.... see how it does here :-)

quite bizzarre.

I post on 2 sites, and this shot is by far my most sucessful on the other.

on here, my most successful is that cow's nose - and that got nowhere on the other!!!

proves that it pays to get a second opinion i guess

Ade

PS - reckon the title put people off?

I can see why you got an award for this Ade! This really is stunning... even the reflection has a 3d quality about it! What a blinder of shot mate!!!

Cheers Sue,

It really was a blinder - I'd got a few keepers of other reservoirs on the other side of the hill, then the sun disappeared and I thought I'd missed the final sunset whilst driving.

But taking a left where I should have gone straight paid off!!!

If you've ever been over the M62, there's a massive arched bridge - it's the biggest single arch in the world - and this is about 1 mile from that.

this is a shot from the other side of the hill about 1.5 hours before - who'd have guessed that sunset would come so good?

Most beautiful reflective piece...I can see why it has been such a success! The title is perfect too... great to see I'm not the only one that scours the Thesaurus for titles... lol & you find some great titles in there... this one a good example (may use it myself sometime if you dont mind).

You have encompased the feel of the sunset in this photo.. the colours are glorious... in fact if you look up the word beautiful in the Thesaurus it describes this photo perfectly...

Cheers Chris.... it actually got an award on the other site I use :-)

Think my new naming policy for shots is the thesaurus - there's a good one at www.dictionary.com

I've posted too many "obvious" names, and I can't possibly compete with you and steve for the puntastic names :-)
