About
Taken at 7-20 this morning, the sun was still rising. The hills were a beautiful blue as you will see in coming photos. And yes, it was very cold. The thin stick above the stump is actually completely separate to the other wood, it is just the angle of capture.

This looks more like ice than water, Judi. And he ridges in the background must be ice, right? How do you do that in Australia? A very nice composition, Judi!

Beautiful pale colors, wonderful mood (dreamy is the first thing that comes to my mind)!!! Adding those stumps adds structure, texture and a focal point.... well done!!! Looks like a very fruitful morning... a case of: the early bird catches the price (yes I know it should say worm... but I don't really like those slippery fellows... and maybe it's a hint for some... ;-D)!!!!!

Despite the cold (we are having +30 degrees centigrade in the shade here) you were able once more to convey a concept via this excellent photo, dear Judi.
Thank you for your very generous comments on my "From the field 6, 7 and 8." Fooling you was definitely not my intention.
Best regards,
Rafi

A bit of both actually. I was having trouble focusing on the distance because of the rain. Them's the breaks, I am afraid.

Hahahaha....yes it does get cold.....very cold! I am wearing double layer clothing and we have all the air cons going to keep us warm. So being out in the cold, rainy morning was a little harsh. I have no meat on my bones so feel the cold a bit more than others. Grrrr...

Judi Liosatos Judi Liosatos   {K:34047} 6/22/2005
Thanks Jay. The original image wasn't as clear in the background due to the shutter, but the one before this with a slightly shorter shutter speed had better colour. So I merged the two and then just enhanced what colour was already there.

I am pleased you liked it.

Excellent long exposure blur, Judi.

I like the overall high-key look you have given this, but I would like to have seen more sharpness in the background, for the hills and the clouds.

Actually, I'm not sure if it is a focus/aperture problem or just the meteorological conditions that caused this :S

Bet you were glad to be out there, even though it was cold Judi. This is a brilliant shot. Very serene image. The colour of the water is fascinating, and I love the contrasting colour and texture that the wood provides. Very well seen. Liz Wallis
