Lovely tribute, Colin. Thanks for your comments on my tribute to my Dad who died July 14. Does the pain of losing them ever go away? My heart still pains to think of losing him.

No, my abilty with languages is very limited, Adriana. I just think it's good manners to try and research a few basic words, to reply to those whose language is not English. It's not always possible!

Yes, I had mine 86 years... and she was full of beans and fun right up to within days of the end. I only lived in Jarrow for just over a year. I was working at Reyrolles in Hebburn, sent there by ICI, to whom I returned and worked a few more years for down in Billingham. Co. Durham.

I had mine 65 years only. Your words meant a lot to me. I didn't know you were from Jarrow, I hope to get some good photos of Bede's world soon. They have the world's oldest window.

I lost mine ten years ago, too, although I think I had mine a lot longer than you had yours. I'm sure that any happiness our lost loved ones feel is tinged with the knowledge that they are loved and remembered. I do believe our prayers can touch them, too.

Thanks a lot, Rafi. It's been an odd day, 10 years on. In fact, this was an old photo out the drawer, taken in Blackpool, 1951. I retook it recently with the digital camera.

Sorry to hear about your loss, my friend. I'm sure your Mam would have liked this photo taken to memorize her, it's so beautiful and your mother looks so young inside the flower.
