whatever you talk about the photograph serves its purpose of influencing the viewer...although its more like a painting it obviously got more drama and more poetic and lyrical metaphor.Paintings are said to be the extension of the painter himself....thus has greater depth and character.
Amazing portfolio and great vision

Great idea, well done, for me it's looks like a little too much at shadow, they are too heavy. Great composition.
My regards, Larissa

Hi Mark

Another excellent reply...another learning point!

You are right on this image being too overdone especially with the rain being a little over the top...I'll see what I can do.

Your second point is so valid at the moment. I'm currently designing a little website and I realise what is missing...FOCUS and PURPOSE. I am trying to produce some images with my slant on specific problems, issues etc. Hopefully this should give my photos more cohesion.

Thanks for your comments, Mark, they really are welcome.

Cheers for now

Yeah it's fun to play around,it's how you learn.

What do I think of this photo?

Overall I find this image quite busy although it is quite minimilist in it's content this is due I think to the added rain as it is quite dominant maybe lowering the opacity of that layer may help or making the rain strokes a little thinner.

I think I may have explored other areas in the landscape other than rain. What that might be I'm not sure.
I find that when I work in PS I have to have an idea or concept to work towards. If I don't I tend to wander aimlessly and get nowhere and the end result tends to be overdone.

I'm not sure if this answers your question Manu but hey it's good to talk.

Excellent reply Hugo....just what I need to learn.

I did wonder how much work does one need to do on a photographic image to then render it no longer a photo..? And I think this has probably answered the question.

Many thanks for casting your critical eye it really is appreciated.

Cheers

Hi Manu, you've certainly achieved to give this photo the look and feel of a painting. And if I see it (and look at it) as if it's a painting, I'd give you full marks, it has what it takes: composition, tone, drama. But as a photo, I'm not so sure. The tones are pretty lifeless, and I find the rain a bit too dominating. good job of playing with PS, but I'm indecisive about it's photographical merit.

Cheers,

Hugo
