It always interests me how the same location can result in entirely different creations when viewed by different photographers. You chose wideangle with people in shot whereas I concentrated on much smaller portions of architecture with no people in sight. I like the way you've dwarfed people with buildings. Mine could have been taken (almost) anywhere but this shot is La Defense, no question and worthy of a postcard.

I understand what you mean, Len. I think it is the dwarfing of the humans, by the lofty towers, which gives it that alienation that you mention. My original, "La Defense" coloured abstract, emphasizes this theme.
This is an image that needs quite a bit of study, to appreciate it, and you've done just that. La Defense, is a very special part of Paris. And of particular interest, to those of us who like to take photos!

I like this. A great sense of 'the modern' - it took me a while to recognize 'L'arc de Triomphe' in the distance. The foreground, in fact, is reminiscent of some great square in Communist cities of bygone days....It's a very good photograph and I feel quite isolated and alienated by what I see...
(Hope that kind of makes sense - it's been a long day and is very late at night...)

I've taken a second look at both your "La Defence" photos and I think that one of the differences between your photos and mine, beside the different angle is that in yours there are many people and in mine only one, hardly to be seen and I like the way you made the people look like midgets against the huge buildings.

I would have loved to get this at night, but I only had about 2 hours there.
This photo was quite blurred and not straight, so I had to do a bit of work to make it presentable!
