Yamil: In transfering e-mail from my laptop to my desktop computer I lost some messages as well as your e-mail address, and the address of Marcus. We are thinking of taking a road trip in the very near future, and may come down your way.

Dear Steve,
I have seen this guys breaching at Monterey Bay, but I got so nervous that the only picture I got was just the splash on my camera.
This is one of the most difficult shots to get. You have to be a professional to get them.
I don?t see any problems with the horizon, especially in a shot with such a high degree of difficulty.
Congratulations for this image an in general for such an outstanding portfolio.
I will come back soon to comment in some of your other pictures.
Take care my friend.

I know how hard it can be to shoot even horizons from a small or medium sized craft and so i always leave enough room around the edges of my subject to allow a little tilt'n'crop in photoshop. I've got a keen interest in marine biology and behaviorism, so this phot gets a few points with me just for subject matter, but I also like the moment- the extended fin really gives a sense of the breaching arch. Is that dust in the top left and under the extended fin? It's more distracting to me in the long run than the tilt. By the way, have you tried Astia for this sort of shooting? It's tendency towards blue combined with the slightly wider tonal range make for some beautiful water shades, and the extra speed is nice too.

*smile* ...I think you can be forgiven the horizon this time Steve. It's a great shot...your timing was perfect, had you worried about the horizon, you probably wouldn't have gotten the shot!

I was waiting for someone to say something about the horizon. I hate tilted horizons! It can be printed, or cropped in photoshop to straighten the horizon, of course. But every time I see one of these in my files, I cringe. The moral of the story: Pay attention to that horizon when you're shooting!
