About Still working on this orchid which hasn't died on me yet. I have to remove the tacky ties and replace them with something else. Noticed
them too late.

This really is beatiful as is lily. My best friend said to me that the rebel xt is a really good camera as I always am tell him that I wonder about it sometimes when I shoot so poorly.
He tells me its not the camera but the glass and my shooting. We spent the weekend together shooting and after it was over he had me convinced that he was right. lol Now I see your photo and you tell me he is right. No more cheap lens for me! Ill save for a couple of years......(I hope) and put some money into it.
Beautiful work friend.

Great use of lighting. They orchids are alive! Funnily enough, I LIKE the ties being left there in this case.

I think you could cut out the tacky tie and create a rather different impression by cropping to a landscape orientation. The stem would touch the frame--not sure how that would work--but the angle and dispositions of the blooms are excellent, so there'd be no need to orient them differently, i.e., along the landscape horizontal axis.

Thanks for the encouragement over my street shots, Lily. They're not a very popular item on Usefilm but I enjoy taking them and it's nice to know that some appreciate them.

And the orchid still looks gorgeous - as does this photo of it. Those yellow 'lips' on the edge of the central section are beautiful - how come I never noticed them before? Soft and delicate and perfectly lit as always... Superb! (I'll even forgive the tacky ties!) ;-)
