About This is YET another shot from the pennines night with Steve Bowden - to date it's been the most productive night of photography I've ever had, producing both our BIP's and awards on Ephotozine as well. just hit it right with the ebbing light, the sunsets and later, the lightening.

this is the third in a staircase at least 4 dams that feed Manchester, up in the moors near Denham. Truely desolate up there - except for some fell runners we saw :-)

This is the outlet to the reservoir, and there's usually a healthy flow of water over the edge of it in winter. Come summer the stocks go down and start to reveal the measuring posts you can see at the bottom middle. Also, you can see the bridge at the far end - its far far deeper there than I'd ever imagined.

PS work....

Convert to B+W with channel mixer
Selective sharpening of the water and embankment.
Dodge on the metal overlow limiter at the front.
Burn at the top of the clouds
dodge on the RHS hill.

Moody landscape feel right?

the colour version will appear below anyway.

Stunning work here, I really like both versions but the mood is better with the b/w. Excellent!

great shot Ade
My preferance is the B/W makes it more moody...

I'm with Alastair on this one Ade so underline your personal memo. OK so I'm a Nikon user but I still think the colur version has much more punch.

Very good Ade, wonderful B&W conversion and YES it was an incredible evening for photography. The night ended far too quickly and even the kebab was a winner lol

Best wishes,
Steve

ps Now you arn't under the false illusion that you will receive glowing praise from a Nikon user do you

NOTE TO SELF: People don't like B+W reservoir shots on UF.

Fell runners? Masochists......

Interesting shot Ade although it seems a little flat and lacking in conrast? I think I prefer the colour one by quite some margin s it has a great golden glow to the light that has been lost with the conversion...

Sounds like you and Steve had a great time! These levels are very low aren't they! Best prepare for the hosepipe ban then....
