John, do you see the small white specks at the bottom, far right? In the dark foreground area of the road? They may actually be part of the pavement texture, and lost or softened when the image is printed, but on a monitor, they look like artifacts, or ditigal dropout.
Judith, you have got me baffled! I always make prints, so I went and checked them, as I couldn't see the scratch or the artifacts on my monitor. they are not on the print either! I reduced the contrast for the print. Best John.
I love the surreal atmosphere in this image. While the strange, tilting effect is a little dizzing, I think it works.
A couple of suggestions: (1) clone out the scratch at the top left, and the artifacts at the bottom right...they distract the eye; and (2) the contrast might be reduced a tad. It might be my monitor, but the whites seem a bit sharp.
Overall, I like it...excellent effort. Am looking forward to seeing you other work.
