The car lights fit very well here, adding extra colours and lines to the scene, which is perfect even without them. Good work!

Hey Rob, This is great. When were you there? I have a shot of this from 2 weeks ago and now that I look at the colors of the sky I see there is the red, white, blue going on as well. Here's my take. I found I had to correct the perspective of most of the ones I shot as they always looked like the monument was leaning to one side or the other. Nice shot, I love your stuff.

Very neat the way you got the car tail lights. The white of the monument against that wonderful sky is great. Mary

Okay, figured that you used a tripod, but what were your camera settings? ISO, f stop, timing, lighting, etc. etc. i.e. How do you do night shots?
No, some things do get by dear ol' Mom, but those colors just jumped right out at me! :-)

You're the first one who wrote about the Red, White and Blue theme in there...I wondered if anyone would catch that. :) :) Nothing gets by you does it...LOL. Definitely used a tripod..couldn't get this shot without one...no one could. :) They make all the difference in the world. :)

Super "postcard" shot. The contrast is great between the off-white of the Washington Monument and the blue of the sky; the soft white glow of the street lights, and the red of the cars taillights almost gives this a patriotic feeling to it. (the old red, white, and blue) What did you set the camera on so that you could shoot this at night? Did you use a tripod?
