Here's Melissa again... We had to get her some head-shots for an audition and had about 10 minutes of day-light to work with. Walgreen's got us our prints in one hour but they were done poorly and the negatives were obviously covered with dust. At $11.00 you get what you pay for. This is a scan from a 4x6 print and I tried to correct the mistakes made by the Walgreens idiots. Given the circumstances, how does this look? I wish there was some light behind her to lift her off the background but we will be trying this again soon... I'll post some more Melissa shots sooner than later. :)
I like this picture ... I would try this same shot again, but with a few twists.
Have her not wear a necklace, or the nose piercing (for the new photo). Keep the hair the same and blow out her skin (try and place it around zone 7 ...maybe zone 8). If you are not familiar with the Zone system, then take a spot meter reading of her face and overexpose 2-3 stops.
Also, have her wear a shirt that does not show up in the photo (like a tube top, or something like that, so that the only skin and hair shows).
Keep the lighting similar and the pose exactly the same...print the result either straight, or using a higher contrast grade to create a clean divisiion between the dark hair and light skin...I think the result will be a beautful ethereal image that will have a time-transcendant beauty.
